MidAtlantic Bonsai Societies This year's Spring Festival marks MidAtlantic Bonsai Societies' (MABS) Twenty-Fifth Anniversary! The Spring Festival will commence Friday evening, April 11, 2008 and will continue through Sunday afternoon, April 13, 2008, at the Hudson Valley Resort & Spa in Kerhonkson, NY. Featured artists are Min Hsuan Lo (Taiwan), Graham Potter (UK), Michael Hagedorn (USA) and George LeBolt (USA). Each of the artists will be offering lecture/demonstrations, critiques, and workshops over the course of the Festival. Additionally, the Festival will feature an enlarged vendor area, a large bonsai exhibit, a Festival banquet, and bonsai auction. The Dawes Arboretum cordially invites you to experience the art of bonsai at the 28th Ohio Regional Bonsai Show. Free demonstrations go on throughout the weekend. Silent auction both days. Jim Doyle will be doing a exhibit critique on Sunday. Over 100 bonsai specimens are displayed in the Firelight Room and Bonsai Courtyard for viewing. If you are so inclined to start your own bonsai or if you are an old pro looking for supplies, vendors will be on hand. In addition to the show, there is a workshop for beginners from 1-4pm on Saturday. The fee is $30/$25 members. Participants will learn the history of bonsai,how to style and plant their own tree. Columbus Bonsai Society Ohio Bonsai Exhibition - An "All Ohio Show" plans are developing for a statewide event to be held Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus,that will appeal to bonsai hobbyists from across the state and beyond. Every bonsai organization active in the Buckeye state will be invited to display their club's best bonsai, and bonsai growers who are not affiliated with any club will also be able to show their trees. A full slate of speakers,demonstrations and workshops is coming together, as well as the chance to shop the wares of at least six different vendors.
